Sundrop Press Kit
Sundrop finds the best photos of your kids on your iPhone and turns them into delightful keepsakes. It’s 100% private and local.
About Sundrop
Sundrop is a private photo app for parents on iPhone. Parents tell it who’s in their family, and it looks through the photos already in their camera roll to find the best ones of their kids, skipping screenshots, near-duplicates and other clutter.
Those photos become drops: a recap of the week every Sunday, siblings side by side at the same age, a time-lapse of a child growing up, highlight reels, and scenes that put a child on a magazine cover or a rookie card. New drops appear on the Lock Screen as Live Activities.
Where Apple Photos makes Memories from a whole library, Sundrop builds each drop around a family’s own stories: how the kids have grown, how siblings look at the same age, and what the week held.
All photo analysis runs on the iPhone, using Apple’s Vision framework and on-device Core ML models. Sundrop doesn’t upload photo libraries to its servers or send photos to a hosted AI service. Scenes are made the same way: the app cuts the child out of a real photo and places the cutout into a layered template, with no generative AI. Two parents can link their accounts; the photos they share sync through iCloud, not Sundrop’s servers.
Sundrop is made by Ben Springwater, Sky Lan and Rob Mackenzie, who also make the reading app Matter.

the side-by-side same age thing is actually genius because you never notice how much they look alike until its literally side by side

Never really saw the point of a dedicated photo organizer for the family since Apple (sort of) does it but Sundrop has been awesome. Huge fan and seeing my kids in their different stages was so amazing.
